Snacks

Paleonola Maple Pancake Grain Free Granola

Macros

  • Serving size: 28g (1/4 cup)
  • 160 Calories
  • 14g Fat
  • 8g Carb (2g fiber, 4g sugar, 3g added sugar)
  • 4g Protein

Ingredients

Almonds, pecans, organic pepitas, walnuts, organic maple syrup, organic coconut oil, organic sunflower seeds, organic flax seeds, organic honey, organic raisins, organic dried coconut, vanilla extract, cinnamon.

Why You Should Grab Some:

One of the few granolas (grain free or otherwise) that’s actually healthy and not loaded with sugar. Amazing if you’re paleo, and even acceptable for keto as well (just don’t go overboard as there is some sugar from the honey and raisins).

Fats/Oils

Chosen Foods Avocado Oil

Macros

  • Serving size: 15ml (1 tbsp)
  • 130 Calories
  • 14g Fat
  • 0g Carb
  • 0g Protein

Ingredients

Avocado oil

Why You Should Grab Some:

There’s a lot of fake avocado oil going on the market today. In fact, a recent study by UC Berkley revealed almost all brands that claim to be selling avocado oil are actually selling fake junk. In some cases, it’s pure soybean oil (one of lowest quality, most highly processed/inflammatory oils in existence)! The only two brands that were tested that were found to be 100% pure and unoxidized were Chosen Foods and Marianne’s Avocado Oil (I’m not sure if Primal Kitchen was tested or not).

Dairy (and Dairy Substitutes)

Siete Planted Based Nacho Cheese Dip

Macros

  • Serving size: 30g (1 tbsp)
  • 35 Calories
  • 2.5g Fat
  • 2g Carb (1g fiber)
  • 1g Protein

Ingredients

Water, tomatoes, carrots, green bell peppers, nutritional yeast, sea salt, distilled white vinegar, flax seed, fermented extract (oregano, flax seed, plum), coconut milk powder, lactic acid, onion powder, tomato powder, garlic powder.

Why You Should Grab Some:

We’re generally not a fan plant based cheese replacements, but these are a homerun. If you’re paleo, definitely give these a try.

Organic String Cheese

Macros

  • Serving size: 28g (1 stick)
  • 80 Calories
  • 6g Fat
  • 0g Carb
  • 7g Protein

Ingredients

Organic mozzarella cheese, salt.

Why You Should Grab Some:

Delicious low moisture mozzarella string cheese. It’s organic (not pasture raised or grass fed), so they’re not the best, but they still made the list.

Organic Valley Unprocessed American Cheese

Macros

  • Serving size: 19g (1 slide)
  • 70 Calories
  • 6g Fat
  • 0g Carb
  • 4g Protein

Ingredients

Ingredients vary, but it’s basically organic pastured cultured milk, salt, and vegetarian enzyme.

Why You Should Grab Some:

Best in class cheese. Outside of ordering from a specialty ecommerce website or directly from a local cheese maker, you won’t find cleaner cheeses than Organic Valley. The cows are organic/non-GMO. Possibly the only downside is that they are not 100% grass fed.

Organic Valley Grassmilk Organic Raw Cheddar Cheese

Macros

  • Serving size: 28.3g (1 oz)
  • 110 Calories
  • 9g Fat
  • 1g Carb
  • 6g Protein

Ingredients

Organic pasteurized cultured milk, salt, vegetarian enzyme.

Why You Should Grab Some:

Most Organic Valley cheeses are not 100% grass fed but this one is! Incredibly delicious and also nutritious. Definitely pick this up next time you’re at Whole Foods.

Vital Farms Pasture Raised Butter

Macros

  • Serving size: 14g (1 tbsp)
  • 100 Calories
  • 11g Fat
  • 0g Carb
  • 0g Protein

Ingredients

Cream (milk), Sea Salt

Why You Should Grab Some:

Butter raised from pasture raised cows. However, just because they’re pasture raised doesn’t mean they’re 100% grass fed/non-GMO. Vital Farms states: “Grass foraged from pasture is the primary component of our cows’ diet. While they are free to graze as much as they like, due to seasonality and weather, some of our farmers choose at times to supplement their diet with other feedstuffs including some grain (much of which is non-gmo).” Even still, this is an extremely high quality butter.

  • 3g Protein

Ingredients

Cashew milk (filtered water, organic cashews), organic tapioca starch, organic locust bean gum, organic coconut cream, live active cultures.

Why You Should Grab Some:

If you’re paleo or dairy free, give this yogurt a try. The quality of the ingredients is outstanding.

Stonyfield Organic 100% Grass Fed Greek Yogurt

  • 130 Calories
  • 5g Fat
  • 6g Carb (4g sugar)
  • 14g Protein

Why You Should Grab Some:

Plain yogurt without all the junk, made from 100% grass fed cows.

Condiments

Whole Foods Organic Honey Apple Cider Vinegar Vinaigrette Salad Dressing

Macros

  • Serving size: 30ml (2 tbsp)
  • 100 Calories
  • 10g Fat
  • 3g Carb( 2g added sugar)
  • 0g Protein

Ingredients

Filtered water, organic extra virgin olive oil, organic apple cider vinegar, organic apple juice concentrate, salt, organic honey, organic dried onion, organic dried garlic, organic garlic powder, xanthan gum, organic cinnamon, organic natural flavor, organic black pepper.

Why You Should Grab Some:

For those times when you’re too lazy to make your own salad dressing, give this a try. Delicious, super clean ingredients, low sugar (only 2 grams per serving from organic honey)… The only thing we’re not a fan of are the natural flavors (there is nothing natural about them), but we’re willing to overlook that in this case since at least they’re organic and everything else is spot on.

Unprocessed/Zero Added Sugar Ketchups (Multiple Brands)

Macros

  • Serving size: 15ml (1 tbsp)
  • 10 Calories
  • 0g Fat
  • 3g Carb( 2g sugar)
  • 0g Protein

Ingredients

Varied, but usually just tomato concentrate, some type of vinegar, salt, spices, and some sort of veggie as a sweetener (such as carrots).

Why You Should Grab Some:

My two favorite brands are True Made Foods Veggie Ketchup and Noble Made Tomato Ketchup. They’re pretty similar in taste and ingredients. The only real difference is that True Made Foods uses carrots and butternut squash for the sweetner, and Noble Made uses pineapple juice concentrate. Can’t go wrong with either.

  • 15 Calories
  • 0g Fat
  • 3g Carb( 2g sugar)

Organic jalapeños, organic distilled vinegar, organic garlic, organic dates, organic raisins, salt, organic tangerine juice concentrate, organic lime juice concentrate.

Why You Should Grab Some:

Sweet, spicy, delicious, and 100% organic ingredients. What’s not to love?

Primal Kitchen Salad Dressings

Macros

  • Serving size: 30ml (2 tbsp)
  • 120 Calories
  • 12g Fat
  • <1g Carb( 2g sugar)
  • 0g Protein

Ingredients

Avocado oil, water, organic coconut aminos (organic coconut sap, sea salt), organic apple cider vinegar, organic gum acacia, organic guar gum, organic distilled vinegar, organic roasted garlic, sea salt, organic black pepper, organic eggs, nutritional yeast, organic lemon juice concentrate, organic garlic powder, organic rosemary extract.

Why You Should Grab Some:

There are some things that aren’t always worth the effort to make at home, and salad dressing is definitely one of those things. These Primal Kitchen salad dressings are almost as delicious as something you could make at home anyway. And, like all Primal Kitchen products, they use nothing but the highest quality, 100% clean ingredients.

Produce

Organic Blueberries

Macros

  • Serving size: 112g (4oz)
  • 170 Calories
  • 9g Fat
  • 0g Carb
  • 21g Protein

Ingredients

Organic blueberries

Why You Should Grab Some:

Surprisingly, blueberries can often be cheaper at Whole Foods than they are at Costco. The price of produce varies a lot depending on season/location, but I’ve seen them as low as $0.36 per ounce. For a comparison, the lowest price I’ve ever seen at Costco was $0.44 per ounce. Look for prime member deals to save even more.

Proteins (Meats, Seafood)

Pasture Raised Bone in Pork Loin Chops

Macros

  • Serving size: 112g (4oz)
  • 170 Calories
  • 9g Fat
  • 0g Carb
  • 21g Protein

Ingredients

Pork

Why You Should Grab Some:

What other supermarkets offer true pasture raised pork, the same quality you’d get buying directly from a farm? None that we’re aware of. Whole Foods really hit a homerun run here. And most of the time, you see these with a ranking of 5+ on the Animal Welfare Certified program, which is the highest possible. This means the animal was born and lived on a pasture its entire life, with access to shiny pastures outdoors. Animals raised in this manner are happier and healthier, and pass on that nutrition to you.

  • 10g Fat

Why You Should Grab Some:

These are almost impossible to find in any supermarket, but Whole Foods has them at certain locations. If you’re lucky enough to have some at your local Whole Foods, they’re awesome for making bone broth.

  • 160 Calories

Fresh Organic Whole Chicken

Macros

  • Serving size: 112g (1 serving)
  • 240 Calories
  • 17g Fat
  • 0g Carb
  • 21g Protein

Ingredients

Chicken

Why You Should Grab Some:

The whole chickens at Whole Foods rank 3 on the Animal Welfare Certified. This means they have a decent amount of outdoor access to the pasture. One obvious benefit of this is a happier, more humane life for the chicken. But, it also means they get to take a break from their usual diet of corn/soy and eat some worms/insects off the ground. This is their natural diet, and also gives them a superior nutrition profile. Some even say they taste better when they’re allowed to eat some insects as well.

100% Grass Fed Ground Lamb from New Zealand

Carbohydrates

Siete Cassava Flour Tortillas

Cassava flour, water, coconut flour, coconut oil, apple cider vinegar, sea salt, xanthan gum.

Why You Should Grab Some:

One of the challenges of gluten free tortillas is that since they don’t contain gluten, they tend to crack and fall apart extremely easy. Because these tortillas use xanthan gum, they are actually quite springy, and hold together fairly well. They are also delicious and packed full of clean ingredients.

Jovial Brown Rice Pasta (Multiple Shapes/Styles)
